Description:
We are pleased to offer this opportunity to work as a Lead Pharmacist at the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre. Royal Surrey is a leading specialist cancer centre with expertise in a wide range of cancers. It serves not only the population local to Royal Surrey but it is also a regional referral centre for the South East and, in some cases, nationally. Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) and radiotherapy services are provided for all tumour sites. The Royal Surrey SACT and supportive care protocols and guidelines provide the basis for off-trial treatment. There is also a strong portfolio of clinical research with currently 50 trials with pharmacy involvement.
The successful applicant would join an experienced team of specialist pharmacy staff who provide a comprehensive service to oncology, haemato-oncology and surgical oncology patients.
This post requires a postgraduate clinical pharmacy qualification and specialist experience in oncology, haemato-oncology, and palliative care. We would endeavour to support any relevant personal/career development training when in post.
Responsibilities:
- Lead for the development and delivery of the specialist clinical pharmacy service to the Royal Surrey mobile treatment centre for oncology and haemato-oncology patients
- Support to the Royal Surrey outreach oncology services e.g. at Ashford Hospital and Frimley Park Hospital
- Prescription verification for outpatient, day case and inpatient SACT
- Provision of a clinical pharmacy service to oncology and haemato-oncology ward
- Writing and validating the entry and update of new regimens (including trials) on the ARIA MedOnc electronic prescribing system
- Initiating and supporting service improvement initiatives
The post holder will be based at the Royal Surrey Cancer Centre but there may be the requirement to work cross-site, in the outreach services.
You would work closely with the teams in the Dispensary and Aseptic Unit but this role does not include any direct responsibility in these areas.
