Description:
To act as the lead specialist for the specified clinical area, managing own highly specialist caseload. To be responsible for providing training and education in the area of clinical speciality to other dietitians and healthcare professionals as appropriate. To provide advanced nutritional and dietetic advice in specialist area to medical, health care professionals and other agencies. To assess plan and implement complex treatment programmes and monitor patients in a variety of settings, offering therapeutic dietary advice and education, to address patients complex and changing needs.
To lead service development within own clinical area and contribute to the nutrition and dietetic service as a whole through participation in service development. To provide day to day leadership and management of the dietitians, dietetic assistant practitioners and dietetic assistants within the specialist clinical team. To be responsible for collating and analysing activity data for the specialist clinical team, using this information to produce reports used in business planning. To interpret Trust and national guidelines, relevant to area of work, affecting the organisation of the team to ensure safe and effective practice for staff and patients.
To assist the Dietetic Services Manager in the investigation of clinical incidents or complaints related to team activity. To contribute to business planning, including setting and implementing objectives for the service in line with CCG initiatives, taking into consideration wider issues and directives such as the NICE Guidance, National Service Frameworks.
