The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
Description
Under minimal supervision, performs complex compliance research and regulatory analysis in order to monitor regulations, assess risk, and mitigate concern in support of business operations according to defined project plans. Assesses compliance of Product rules, guidelines, procedures, and programs. Oversees projects that are complex in nature and require greater expertise, typically for states with higher volume and/or regulatory scrutiny.

Responsibilities

  • Independently analyzes company`s regulatory compliance, filing, and forms postures and leads the development of control recommendations. Consults with product management, underwriting, distribution, and claims management to keep field abreast of changes. Acts as a thought partner with compliance managers to drive department tactics and strategy development.
  • Coordinate multiple Product Compliance projects to ensure state and countrywide compliance. Use various resources to compile information and independently develop recommendations to address problems/issues. Provide clear measures of success and independently drive implementation efforts.
  • Working with Product Management, lead efforts to ensure compliance with underwriting, filing, forms, and regulatory or statutory changes in assigned states. Drive revisions as needed, including process changes, underwriting updates, revising forms, filing the revisions, and/or systems changes. Own communication of changes to impacted stakeholder groups including issuing organizational bulletins, and completion of post implementation cross checks.
  • Responsible for answering product compliance inquiries from the organization. Independently research questions regarding regulations, products, filing, forms, rules, and competition. Provide fully vetted business impacts and detailed recommendations to improve and streamline compliance controls.
  • Independently performs complex internal compliance audits and risk assessments, including documentation, process flows, and testing. Generate reporting to track changes and results. Drive development of recommendations to help improve the compliance and efficiency of the business. Act as a thought partner with the business in their effort to address noted concerns.
  • Independently researches and responds to complaints from Departments of Insurance, Regulatory Agencies, customers and other interested parties. Proactively identifies concerning trends and independently develops recommendations to address organizational risk.
  • May own the independent construction of compliance filings for the submission to regulatory authorities. Coordinates with Product Management and may submit filings to regulatory authorities for approval. Prepares responses to state insurance inquiries. Own consultations with regulatory authorities regarding status of filings and provides supporting documentation to achieve approval of filings.
  • Takes a proactive role in identifying process deficiencies within the organization and works with manager, co-workers and customers to execute process improvement initiatives.
  • May lead or mentor less experienced junior analysts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor`s degree in a quantitative subject (example: Mathematics, Finance, Economics) or Legal/Political Science/Insurance and experience with quantitative analysis preferred

  • 4 to 6 years related work experience preferred
  • Knowledge of insurance principles and concepts required
  • Advanced analytical/problem solving and research skills
  • Effective communication skills for writing reports/proposals and making presentations
  • Ability to work independently and lead others during projects a must
  • Ability to influence management and stakeholders
  • Technical and regulatory knowledge of insurance is a plus
