Description:
We’re excited to announce an opening for a Lead Construction & Integration Engineer to join our team! In this role, you’ll oversee all construction activities from start to finish, ensuring buildability and efficient delivery while maintaining site compliance and maximising Thames Water’s benefits.
Your role will extend beyond the construction site. You’ll provide input during the feasibility, design, and construction phases, own the audit process, and manage the team’s day-to-day operations. Your team’s work will be crucial in ensuring our waste network projects receive the support needed to keep our customer’s waste service in working order, directly impacting customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING AS THE LEAD CONSTRUCTION & INTEGRATION ENGINEER
- As the Lead Construction & Integration Engineer, you will manage the team, which includes direct reports and delivery partners. Your leadership will be instrumental in ensuring the team achieves project delivery outputs, driving performance and development, and fostering brilliant customer engagement.
- Take responsibility for team performance and improve engagement of all key stakeholders throughout the stage gate process (end to end).
- Encourage the capability of the team to ensure a challenging assurance culture is maintained and engineers can competently and constructively review and advise.
- Input into lessons Learned reviews and ensure results are used in future projects.
- Identify risks and issues; report to key stakeholders; work with stakeholders to resolve them.
- Liaison with Operations and contractors to approve passing through key milestones.
- Monitoring and review of the contractor’s construction assurance documentation.
- Working with the design teams and contractors to resolve issues promptly to minimise the impact on the programme and cost.
- Assisting the design teams (contractors and internal) with practical, buildable solutions to meet the brief.
- Promoting and monitoring contractor health and safety and working with contractors to address issues and improve site health and safety performance.
- Ensuring compliance with environmental requirements in asset design and delivery, monitoring delivery performance and working with contractors to address issues and improve.
This role will be hybrid-based. Within the Thames Valley region offices, you will spend 80% of your time in the office or on-site and 20% in hybrid mode.
36 hours a week, Monday to Friday.
WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE ROLE
- Hold a Civil or Mechanical Engineering degree.
- Hold a NEBOSH General Certificate or have a strong knowledge of health and safety.
- Extensive knowledge of defining and supporting solutions to complex works.
- Background in working in multi-stakeholder environments.
- Understanding the development of design, construction and operation of infrastructure or non-infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of performance and quality management.
- Understanding of the stage gate process and intelligent client model.
