About our Team: You will part of a team assisting the business with statistical analysis and building predictive models for credit, fraud, and identity risk.
About the Role: This a Lead Data Scientist to manage a small team of data scientists. You will lead discussions with stakeholders on the requirements, deliverables, and prioritisation of projects. The role will balance supporting junior data scientists, shaping the future strategy of the team, as well as performing product development and research projects as needed. The incumbent will have experience in data mining, statistical methods, and multiple modelling / scoring techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a small team of data scientists building credit and fraud risk predictive models and other analytical product features
  • Assigning and managing projects via Agile project management tools.
  • Working with product owners to plan, track and deliver new analytical product features.
  • Developing and maintaining new frameworks, methodologies, and governance to support our strategic objectives.
  • Guiding stakeholders about our data science processes and requirements, ensuring that collaboration with other business teams runs smoothly.
  • Supporting senior leaders to shape and deliver our data science strategy.
  • Running analytical research projects and building predictive risk models as required.

Requirements

  • Experience of leading junior data scientists, either via direct line management or peer coaching.
  • Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills, including the ability to describe statistical results to non-technical audiences
  • Show initiative and tenacity to help build and scale a new analytics function, including developing future leaders
  • Have expertise in data science and/or statistical analyses with experience of building advanced models.
  • Experience of coding languages used in the data science field (e.g. R, Python, SQL).
  • Experience of working with product development teams
