SUMMARY:

The Electrical Engineering Lead plays a pivotal role in supporting the Electrical Engineering Department Manager by overseeing day-to-day technical operations, leading project teams, and ensuring the successful execution of projects within the department.

  • Familiar with electrical safety and code compliance requirements.
  • Experience with various electrical codes and standards.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful candidate will be Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) within the province of Alberta.
  • Electrical Engineering or related Engineering degree.
  • Minimum 15+ year’s oil and gas experience (with EPCM background).

Responsibilities:

  • Lead overseeing a team of electrical engineers, including mentorship and training.
  • Ensure proper staffing levels and resource allocation.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of electrical engineering deliverables.
  • Generate engineering hour estimates, resource loading and forecasting.
  • Ensure effective use of global workshare to meet corporate requirements.
  • Leading, execution and review of project deliverables.
  • Monitor project schedule and budget for all electrical deliverables.
  • Interface with the other engineering disciplines to ensure a coordinated design.
  • Ensure electrical designs meet the requirements of both the client and Equinox.
  • Assist in the development of electrical department standards, procedures and specifications.
  • Develop and stamp key electrical design documents.
  • Prepare switchgear/MCC design and specifications, power distribution design, utility power design and specification, remote/standalone genset sizing and installation, fire and gas detection system design, shutdown key development, commissioning and start-up assistance.
  • Prepare and/or review electrical single line diagrams, wiring diagrams and schematics.
  • Provide electrical input into the detailed scope of work, DBM and Project Execution Plan.
  • Analyze the designs of vendors or subcontractors providing specific equipment.
  • Develop electrical MTOs and labor estimates.
  • Develop and evaluate electrical equipment and construction specifications.
  • Perform engineering for procurement activities including MRQ/MRP development, technical evaluation / recommendation and vendor drawing approvals.
  • Perform engineering development of Construction Work Package, including construction specifications, IFC drawings and material lists.
