Description:
REQUIRED SKILLS / EXPERIENCE / ATTRIBUTES:
- Engineering Degree,
- Capable of achieving CEng/CPEng,
- Hold a Construction safety induction (white card)
- 5 Years’ experience in sustainment engineering leadership role, preferably with Defence experience.
- Knowledge of asset management standards, systems, and processes.
- Knowledge of configuration management systems and processes.
- Capable of achieving Level 3 Authorised Engineering Authority delegation under the Navy Technical Regulatory System or equivalent.
- Strong application of technical risk management and safety systems.
- Strong management skills and team building capability.
- Complex problem-solving skills.
- Effective communications skills; and
- Competency in Microsoft office and standard engineering software.
- Flexibility to tailor approach to Contract and schedule as required.
- Takes ownership of task assigned.

Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
The Cape Class Lead Engineer position is responsible to the Engineering Manager in delivering engineering outcomes for supporting the Cape Class Sustainment Managers in maintaining the design integrity of the Cape Class fleet, management of the configuration baseline and managing the technical / engineering aspects of the contract. The In-Service Support (ISS) contract for the Cape Class Patrol Boat (CCPB) with the Australian Customs and Border Force and the equivalent with RAN operate under Regulatory Systems in support of the mission and support systems of the state-of-the-art Cape Class Patrol Boat, the regulatory system of each and the contract of each requires an Austal lead engineer to coordinate and manage all engineering activities in support.
KEY OBJECTIVES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Develop Cape Class sustainment engineering Team to cover complete engineering support service delivery.
- Manage a team of Support engineers and liaise with the wider Design and Engineering function within Austal.
- Maintain the Cape Class engineering support contract plans and documentation.
- Maintain the certification of the Cape Class,
- Manage provision of engineering advice,
- Maintain the configuration management of products,
- Controlling change to the configuration baselines,
- Maintain integrity of temporary changes to the configuration baselines,
- Support the Provision of Technical Instructions,
- Timely execution of engineering investigations
- Co-ordinate Cape specific engineering meetings with the customer,
- Maintain effective relationships and communications with ABF and RAN technical points of contact,
