POSITION SUMMARY

The Lead, HHR and Workforce Sustainability Communications works as a member of the Communications team but works closely with leadership within the workforce sustainability office, in order to lead communications around Northern Health’s strategic priorities, specifically focused on the Workforce Sustainability initiative, including Health Human Resources (HHR) communications. This work will include collaborating with a variety of departments and stakeholders in high-level, strategic planning in order to develop and implement communications plans, both internal and external, to promote and communicate about the Workforce Sustainability and HHR work.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, or marketing.
  • Minimum seven (7) years’ recent related experience in communications, marketing, and/or public relations in a corporate environment.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Previous experience in a health care, government, public sector, not-for-profit, or corporate environment an asset.
  • Knowledge of current health topics and issues in BC and within the NH region are an asset.
  • Project and/or change management experience considered an asset.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Effective communications skills including written, verbal, critical, and strategic.
  • Excellent interpersonal relations and demonstrated ability to build and foster relationships with individuals and groups.
  • Proven experience developing and executing communications plans and marketing campaign, including developing materials.
  • Ability to develop responsive, interesting, and original content.
  • Skilled in writing for a variety of media, including print, video (scripts), and web.
  • Extensive knowledge of communications tools and practices used in a corporate environment.
  • Working knowledge of design, photography, publication production, desktop publishing, video, and electronic communications.
  • Experience with social media, multimedia, and website development.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise exceptional judgment, with consideration given to organizational risk and public and staff perception.
  • Ability to handle highly confidential and/or sensitive issues with skill, tact, and discretion.
  • Ability to remain calm, alert, and high functioning under stressful situations.
  • Effective organizational, project management and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize and work independently and under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with senior leaders and other stakeholders in a wide variety of settings across the organization.
  • Flexibility to provide after-hours service in emergencies or unpredictable circumstances.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office365 environment considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of current health topics and issues in BC and within the NH region an asset.
