The Ground Control technology function is on a mission to deliver industry leading technology and data platforms which safely enable everyone at Ground Control to connect our clients and the environment and we are looking for a Lead Infrastructure Engineer to be a part of that!
The Lead Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for leading a team of three infrastructure engineers and the technical implementation and maintenance of the organisation’s services and infrastructure, encompassing both on-premise and cloud environments.
This role entails provisioning, deploying, and sustaining systems to align with business needs and will utilise your knowledge, communication skills, and experience to provide our customers, both internal and external, with outstanding service and support.
This is a hybrid role and will require travel to our Head Office in Billericay at least once per week; you will also be required to travel to all other GC Locations, including field sites, as needed.
This is a full-time position and the successful applicant will be required to join the team’s shift pattern to ensure core business hours (8am – 6pm) are covered; you will also be expected to provide standby out-of-hours support on a rota basis.
Responsibilities:
- Play a pivotal role in the design, build and management of the on-premise servers (Windows), virtualisation (Hyper-V) and our cloud infrastructure (Azure). This includes working on both physical and virtual hardware.
- Ensuring scalability, reliability and security of our infrastructure and collaborating with cross functional teams to meet business requirements.
- Monitoring and maintain the performance and availability of our infrastructure including regular maintenance such as patching and updates.
- Implementing and maintaining security measures to protect our infrastructure including ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Leading infrastructure projects from initial scoping to completion.
- Ensuring our network and infrastructure documentation is grown and kept up to date for team reference and audit.
- Reporting on infrastructure performance, incidents, and improvements.
- Ensuring day to day BAU tickets are picked up in a timely manner.
