Based in the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) facility, the Lead Person will report to the Planning Supervisor in the Production Control department. A Lead Person will be responsible for overseeing activities associated with Weld and Switchgear Kitting to meet production and customer requirements. The Lead Person will assist the Planning Supervisor in planning, organizing, controlling, and directing daily and weekly operations to ensure production scheduled is executed in a timely manner and meets all safety and quality standards.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of High School Diploma or GED. Previous experience leading a team is preferred. Basic to intermediate Microsoft Office applications skills (Word, Excel). Ability to effectively work in a team environment. Due to the safety sensitive nature of this position successful candidates will undergo pre-employment substance abuse and medical testing upon hire

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.
  • Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.
  • Continuous standing, walking 50-300 foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.
  • Must be able to climb stairs frequently throughout the shift.
  • Able to frequently look over shoulders, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently.
  • Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force continuously up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to use hand tools such as tin snips, hammer, and power tools (some vibrating), for long periods of time with frequent repetition.

Responsibilities:

Sets the example for team members on expectations, accountability, and attitude. Balances workload and assigns work to team members on a day-to-day basis to support the work team and departmental objectives. Balances and assigns work team priorities to best achieve production and customer satisfaction objectives. Organizes, prioritizes, and monitors day-to-day tasks. Drive Kits to completion on time while maintaining quality and accuracy. Oversee employees to ensure that all Powell standards and processes are maintained. Schedules on-the-job training for work team members. Leads and participates in process improvement initiatives as required for work team. Monitors work activities to ensure safety practices, policies and procedures are followed. Participate in safety program activities (e.g. safety committee, safety meetings). Actively participate in employee meetings, as required (e.g. tool box meetings, etc.). Ensure all products and kits meet quality expectations. Write Hold for Dispositions (HFDs). Work closely with employees and/other departments to resolve production problems. Communicate with the Planning department regarding part and routing issues. Oversee the training plan for new hires and communicate progress to Planning Supervisor. Provide performance feedback as required. Lead special projects (i.e. - communicate, assign tasks; monitor progress, provide status updates). Manage department supplies. Other duties as required.
