We are seeking a motivated Senior/Lead Researcher to join the lab of Dr. Hu in the Department of Immunology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. As part of the Department of Immunology at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Hu Laboratory is seeking to hire a dedicated Senior Researcher for a future opportunity. The successful candidate will work on multiple research projects by participating in conducting experiments, troubleshooting results, synthesizing data for analysis, and maintaining datasets. Specific duties include tissue culture, flow cytometry, in vivo murine work, genotyping, and other basic molecular biology techniques.
The fundamental goal of our research is to understand how the nervous system and immune system interact with each other in health and diseases. We study immunobiology, immunometabolism, and neuroimmunology, by focusing on the interaction of the immune system and the nervous system and its implications for health and diseases. As the immune system and nervous system are tightly connected to regulate host physiology and pathology, understanding these connections allows us to gain new insights into biological concepts and disease targets. We will combine advanced cellular and molecular techniques in immunology and neurobiology with genetic-engineering tools, quantitative proteomics, and multiplex imaging systems to interrogate neuro-immune interaction in pathophysiological conditions.
These projects are highly multidisciplinary, taking advantage of a wide range of techniques including flow cytometry, genetic cancer model, chemogenetics, light-sheet and spatial imaging, single-cell transcriptomics, genetic model of cancer, metabolism and behavior. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds that would thrive in a highly collaborative and supportive environment that provides the freedom to independently develop a research project.
