We’d love you to become part of a high-profile team within our Research & Development Centre in the UK, working on the future development and evolution of the XenServer hypervisor - a leading virtualisation management platform. You and your team will lead on optimising the platform for App, Desktop and Server Virtualisation infrastructures and you’ll see your work support the Xen Project and the Xen open-source community.
You’d be part of a Scrum team following our Scaled Agile development methodology, where you’d collaborate with other teams across the company to ensure our products maintain high quality and security standards.
WE EXPECT THE FOLLOWING SKILLS:
- Knowledge of operating system internals. Proficiency in Linux kernel and at least one subsystem (like CPU scheduling, file system, network, I/O, or memory management).
- Previous exposure to system software in a large codebase.
- Familiarity with software development processes, including source control, bug tracking, testing, and design documentation.
- Experience designing, planning and leading the development of software features with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to communicate clearly with non-technical stakeholders and with customers.
- Ability to guide and mentor junior developers.
IN ADDITION, EXPERIENCE IN ANY OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS WOULD BE GREAT!
- Virtualisation technology in general, and Xen or XenServer in particular.
- x86 architecture and assembly.
- Scripting with Python or Bash.
- Software and hardware security.
- RPM packaging for Linux distributions.
- Open-source development processes, and interaction with open-source communities.
