PERMANENT FULL TIME
Hybrid: Toronto (This is a hybrid role that includes the flexibility to work remotely. Regular 1-2 days of in-person collaboration is expected at our Cambridge or Toronto Office location each week).
Gore Mutual implemented Guidewire Cloud Classic for both Personal and Commercial Lines of business, migrating off legacy systems. Positioned to reap the benefits of one unified platform, we are looking for an experienced Lead Analyst to help us with the decommissioning of our legacy systems.
The successful candidate will report to VP of Engineering and work alongside senior technology leaders across Gore IT. Your work will make Gore Mutual more resilient, leaner, and better positioned to succeed in its ambition to progress from a regional to a national insurer.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive project plan to manage the decommissioning of legacy systems.
- Coordinate the project timeline, milestones, and deliverables with internal IT teams, external vendors, and business stakeholders.
- Lead the execution of decommissioning activities, ensuring adherence to agreed timelines and budgets.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications, keeping stakeholders informed of progress, risks, and issues.
- Work closely with business and IT leaders to ensure project objectives align with organizational goals.
- This role has two direct reports, who are technical SMEs for the applications that are in scope.
- Includes managing the team day to day and supporting the team as they upskill to new technologies in preparation for post decommissioning.
- Facilitate meetings with key stakeholders to discuss project updates, solicit feedback, and address concerns.
- Identify potential risks and issues related to the decommissioning process and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure that decommissioning activities comply with industry standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct quality assurance reviews and testing to ensure that the decommissioned systems are safely removed or replaced without impacting existing operations.
- Monitor project progress against key performance indicators (KPIs) and adjust plans as necessary to meet targets.
- Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on project status, challenges, and achievements.
Responsibilities:
WHAT WILL YOU NEED TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years leading technology related projects.
- Good working knowledge of legacy systems an advantage as well as any prior experience with decommissioning.
- Strong understanding of P&C insurance business processes and technology platforms will be advantageous to this role
- Experience in working with cross-functional teams and managing external vendors.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to manage and motivate teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to navigate complex project challenges.
- Excellent organizational skills, including multitasking, time management, and meticulous attention to detail.
- A proactive and results-driven approach, with the ability to anticipate issues and take decisive action.
- Flexibility and adaptability to manage changing project scopes and situations.
- Strong negotiation skills to manage expectations and resolve conflicts among stakeholders.
