QUALIFICATIONS

  • Lead Teacher Qualifications (Preschool)(1) Bachelor’s (BA or BA) or Associate’s degree in early childhood education and a NYS Teaching Certification; or(2) Bachelor’s (BA or BA) Associate’s degree in early childhood education and 2 years experience in a licensed early childhood program; or(3) Associate’s (AA or AS) degree in early childhood education and a study plan showing current enrollment in school which will be leading to a Bachelor’s degree within seven years
  • Lead Teacher Qualifications (Infant/Toddler)(1) Associate’s degree in early childhood education; or(2) Child Development Associate certification and a study plan leading to an associate’s degree in early childhood education within seven years; or(3) High school diploma or GED; nine college credits in early childhood education or child development; two years’ experience caring for children, and a study plan leading to an associate’s degree in early childhood education within seven years(4) High school diploma or GED and five years of supervised infant/toddler classroom experience if currently employed in a permitted child care program
  • Has successfully completed state-required pre-service training
  • Develops relationships and communicate effectively with children, parents, and faculty members
  • Ability to calmly address stressful situations professionally while multi-tasking to ensure smooth school operations
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in connection with the handling of children for the facilitation of programs, child safety, and potential emergency situations. For Infant and Young Toddler Teachers, must be able to properly lift infants into and out of a crib
