QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATION:

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific discipline, ideally fluid dynamics/heat transfers or aerospace

SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Understanding/knowledge of physics relating to heat transfers.
  • Experience with thermal modelling approaches, including lumped-mass
  • Experience with orbital characteristics and radiation modelling
  • Familiarity with space technologies, in particular thermal control
  • Experience with numerical models and simulations
  • Knowledge of Systema software package
  • Experience with engineering documentation
  • Good communication skills in client-facing situations
  • Ability to adapt to new projects and environments

Responsibilities:

  • Perform thermal analysis tasks of satellite structures, systems and equipment
  • Analysis tasks can be global (full assembly) or part/equipment level
  • Manipulate 3D geometry using CAD tools, create models from geometry
  • Model the insulation properties (MLI) using adequate methods
  • Simulate mission cycles
  • Perform post-processing and generate appropriate outputs
  • Develop scripts to support pre and post-processing activities (e.g. Python)
  • Analyse results and extract main conclusions and assumptions
  • Present and report progress and results, externally and internally
  • Maintain direct working relationships with clients and represent both your work and possibly the work of team members during client meetings
  • Produce technical slide packs and reports
