Position is hybrid in Schenectady, NY or Rochester, NY Office
The Leader, Product Owner, Production Support and Application Administration, is a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation, maintenance, and enhancement of production systems and applications. This multifaceted position involves both leadership responsibilities and ownership of product-related aspects.
Specifically, the Leader manages scrum team members including software and quality engineers, as well as application admins. The Leader is responsible for helping to triage production incidents, creating and managing the backlog of incidents, and maintaining up-to-date prioritized execution plans, to ensure our systems are meeting the needs of our business partners and our external customers.

The Leader will manage software engineers and quality engineers as part of her or his role. He or she will be responsible for developing the team’s capabilities so that its members become more adept at executing on complex software development projects.

  • Collaborate with product/platform managers, architects, and business stakeholders to correct production incidents, maintain system uptime, and keep systems administered by MVP up-to-date
  • Work with business and technical stakeholders to refine and prioritize production incidents, features, and user stories.
  • Ensure communication of work progress to all impacted business units, as well as Digital leadership
  • Manage the work performed by development teams to ensure quality and timeliness of their work.
  • Develop and mentor software and quality engineers to advance their skills across domains relevant to MVP.
  • Drive and maintain uncompromised product quality standards.

The leader is also responsible for assisting his or her team with the following items:

  • Scheduling and prioritizing system maintenance
  • Monitoring the overall health of production applications
  • Analyzing code to assist with finding production incident resolution and doing root cause analysis, and planning root cause remediation
  • Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and clients to address production issues and optimize system functionality

MINIMUM EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in information technology or computer science preferred; but not necessary if candidate has substantial work experience in software development.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

5 years of software development, product or project management experience in a technology development environment. 3+ years’ experience managing personnel.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

Office 365, basic programming, agile software development, project management.
