Description:

Responsibilities:

As a Learning Designer you can anticipate some of your day-to-day tasks to include:

  • Developing functional relationships and maintaining close liaison with the Commonwealth and support contract training teams;
  • Attend RDA convened conferences, meetings and activities associated with the training sub-program;
  • Attend Commonwealth convened conferences, meetings and activities including Learning Review (LRB) and Learning Implementation Boards (LIB) and Training Development Workshops;
  • Engage with SMEs and stakeholders to establish and communicate learning objectives and to understand technical data;
  • Incorporate bespoke e-learning resources, Part-Task Trainers, Simulation and additional Training Equipment into training solutions in a way that is measured and meaningful;
  • Direct involvement in the delivery of trial courses and their evaluation;
  • Provide guidance to Instructors; and
  • Provide input into the Training System program body of work, including review of ILS documentation, contribution to planning, attendance at project related activities as part of the ILS team

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

  • Diploma in Training Design or equivalent; or currently undertaking an equivalent course; or having appropriate experience;
  • Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE 40110);
  • In-depth knowledge of Adult Learning Theories;
  • Specialist level working knowledge of the Systems Approach to Defence Learning (SADL);
  • Technical writing skills across a range of training documentation and general writing skills such as activity instructions, dot-point briefs, emails, letters and other forms of external correspondence;
  • Relevant product knowledge or the ability to gain such knowledge;
  • Ability to travel interstate and internationally when required;
  • Able to work in alternate locations, in Australia or overseas, for up to 4 weeks at a time; and
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (must hold Australian Citizenship)
