Description:

Duties/Pligte
The Centre for Health Professions Education (CHPE) at Stellenbosch University (SU) is an academic unit that seeks to promote teaching and learning within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences (FMHS) through its postgraduate programmes, research and Faculty development initiatives. In addition, the CHPE learning technologies team plays a leading role in advancing the effective integration of educational technologies in teaching, learning and assessment practices across all undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the FMHS.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

  • Working with blended learning advisors and other relevant CHPE staff on the design and development of digital teaching, learning and assessment resources for

    modules/programmes;


  • Working with blended learning advisors and module teams to complete projects according to the agreed-upon curriculum design approach and completing tasks within
    project timelines;

  • Working with blended learning advisors to organise, design, and facilitate Faculty development activities in the CHPE that aim to support the professional learning of
    staff on matters related to blended learning experience design, the navigation of the learning management system (Moodle-based), and the use of relevant digital
    learning technologies;

Supporting the multimedia production team with media preproduction (e.g. video storyboarding and scripting) and administrative tasks related to postproduction;

  • Providing basic training and support for academics and other stakeholders in preparation for online facilitation, including support for Microsoft teams and advanced

    classroom-based technologies;

Providing technical and administrative support to blended learning advisors relating to projects and training offerings;

  • Performing CHPE website updates;
  • Maintaining necessary administrative records regarding workflow.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling

  • A tertiary, three-year qualification, in a field relevant to learning design, for example, education, psychology, social sciences, communications, computer science, or

    multimedia studies;

Two year’s relevant work experience in an adult education and/or higher education context;

  • Basic understanding of learning theory and (online/blended) curriculum design;
  • Experience in the educational use and technical support of learning management systems (e.g. Moodle);
  • Experience in the design of synchronous online learning experiences (e.g. webinars, live streaming);
  • Experience in the use and support of video and audio software;
  • Experience in developing digital resources for educational purposes, such as visual icons, infographics, or educational podcasts;
  • Proven experience in the use of rapid authoring tools (e.g. iSpring, Articulate, H5P) and developing SCORM packages;
  • Proficiency in relevant software (e.g. Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, Camtasia, etc.);
  • Experience with working in a project-based environment that requires adhering to strict timelines;
  • A high level of attention to detail in all phases of the design process;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience with working in a team (the incumbent will be expected to work collaboratively, but should also be able to meet deadlines

    and work independently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment);

Excellent time management and organisational skills;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, including the ability to craft instructional text.
