ABOUT DAUNIA MINE:

Daunia is an established operation in the Bowen Basin, which has been producing high quality metallurgical coal for the export market since 2013. It is located south-east of Moranbah, adjacent to Whitehaven’s existing Winchester South development project. Daunia features state-of-the-art infrastructure and mining operations, including well-established autonomous equipment and infrastructure
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Learning & Development Manager to join Whitehaven Coal. The L&D Manager will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing comprehensive learning and development programs tailored to the specific needs of our coal mining operations. This role will be based at our Daunia site with FIFO options available.

  • Comply with the Health and Safety Management System and Plans, legislative requirements, and safety instructions and directions, contributing to the company goal of “zero harm”.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant safety legislation and company policies.
  • Track HSE performance in the company
  • Demonstrate visible safe working practices and a commitment to safety in the workplace by participating in safety training, managing risk, identifying and reporting hazards and incidents, and acting as a role model in the area of safety every day
  • Support the development of a safety culture where safety is an integral part of ‘the way we work’.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven experience (10 years) in learning and development roles, preferably within the mining or heavy industry sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field;
  • Self-motivated, demonstrated initiative and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to work under pressure and excellent organisational skills.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design methodologies, and training evaluation techniques.
