The Clinical Trial Learning and Development (CTL&D) organization develops and delivers training strategy and design for Johnson & Johnson and investigational site staff participating in clinical trials. This includes determining training needs, developing and implementing strategic learning initiatives, and using resources to deploy plans. The team aims to reduce the time it takes to initiate a study, enhance the effectiveness of learning for conducting clinical trial activities, and ultimately improve the satisfaction of site staff. The CTL&D organization plays a critical role to being the partner of choice and ensures optimal site experience.
The Learning & Instructional Design Manager will create, define and drive learning strategy techniques and process capabilities to enable industry leading approach for training of Johnson and Johnson clinical trial teams and sites. This includes creating tailored study-specific training programs, oversight of content development, managing projects, measuring learning effectiveness & process efficiency, and engaging partners and learners. They will provide project management and be the primary point of contact for external vendors involved in content creation. The Learning & Instructional Design Manager will partner closely with CTL&D colleagues, other applicable Subject Matter Experts (SME), and collaborators (internal and external) to conduct learning needs assessments to ensure training design will deliver expected outcomes.

EDUCATION:

  • BA/BS degree (required) preferably in Instructional Design, Training, Instructional Technology, or Education. MA/MS degree or advanced degree in Instructional Design or a related field of study highly preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the overall training needs assessment with various teams to define training plans with clear learning objectives.
  • Establish a systematic approach to learning, using available resources to design, develop and deploy valuable training solutions based on problem solving analysis.
  • Design and develop innovative, comprehensive curriculums applying advanced design/development techniques and principles of adult learning theory.
  • Identify, oversee and partner with external vendors and developers when needed.
  • Provide consultation guidance, feedback, and support to SME through the course design process including analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation to produce high-quality training materials.
  • Support CTL&D representatives to develop high quality solutions using fit for purpose training techniques including guidance for effective organization of content and opportunities for interactivity.
  • Define measures to assess, monitor, and report on the effectiveness and impact of training interventions as well as opportunities for improvement and refinement.
  • Provide guidance, co-create or design plans for training materials, participant guides, facilitator guides, job aids and performance support tools for all training materials and evaluation strategies.
  • Manage multiple learning projects and potential to lead an internal or external team of learning professionals required to design and deliver learning solutions.
  • Expand knowledge of required tools and techniques through independent study, on-the-job training, and formal training.
  • Maintain knowledge of industry trends, advancements, training design, innovative training techniques, evaluation processes and technologies.
  • Coach and mentor peers within the CTL&D organization in the principles of adult learning, new learning capabilities and services, and training strategies. Foster a culture of continuous learning and development.
