Description:

Specific Responsibilities for Division of Clinical Associates BCMP programme:
1.Teaching and Learning activities for the Division of Clinical Associates
a. Conduct teaching, facilitating & learning for undergraduate BCMP students.
i. Teaching as appropriate for SCMD1001A, SCMD2001A, SCMD3003A.
ii. Prepare and implement problem-based learning, case based learning and small group learning.
iii. Develop and facilitate blended learning, e-Learning and e-Technology enhanced pedagogies.
b. Conduct clinical skills teaching,
i. Develop clinical skills pedagogies, participate in simulation training, set up OSCEs.
c. Conduct clinical teaching, facilitating & learning in the clinical setting
i. Assist with clinical training in the wards, OPD, clinical setting
ii. Assist with bedside teaching for SCMD1001A, SCMD2001A, SCMD3003A.
2.Citizenship, Academic and administrative activities
a. Assist in all aspects of curriculum design and implementation including assessment test preparation, invigilating, marking (theory & clinical)
b. Participate, contribute to Division, Department, School and Faculty wide committees
3. Support Research activities related to BCMP programme
a. Develop research protocols.
b. Conduct research studies: data collection, develop questionnaires, interview, build reports, etc.
4.Pursue Professional Development
5.Provide educational leadership in an area of expertise.
Requirements:
•Bachelor of Clinical Medical Practice, Bachelor of Nursing, Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery or equivalent Health Science Degree.
•Completed master’s degree.
•Minimum 2 - 5 years clinical experience as clinical associate, nurse, medical doctor, or equivalent health care professional.
•Minimum 1-year academic teaching experience.
•Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa or with South African Nursing Council
•Sound knowledge of South African health services
•Understanding of and commitment to primary health care
Recommendations:
•Completion of Postgraduate Diploma in Health Science Education or similar educational courses advantageous
