COURSE DESCRIPTION

Introduces a diverse selection of film, video and digital media from around the world. May cover such subjects as indigenous aesthetics, post-modern and post-colonial cinema, changing ethnographic cinematic practice, and various approaches to narrative structures within particular cultures. Explores the implications of a Hollywood-dominated film industry and addresses how particular countries undertake production and distribution of film and media. Successful candidates will demonstrate in depth knowledge of film, video, and digital media from around the world.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master’s degree or equivalent experience in film/video history, theory or production.
  • Current publications, creative work, or public presentations that demonstrate expertise in film, video, and digital media from around the world.
  • Teaching experience at the college level or equivalent
  • Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Two years or more teaching experience on college level
  • Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and/or intercultural competence with diverse groups in relation to teaching.

SALARY COMMENSURATE WITH DEGREE LEVEL AND EXPERIENCE

  • Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $4,530 - $7,794 per full-time month
  • CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,530 - $11,994 per full-time month
