You will hold a PhD in Linguistics with a specialisation in language development and have advanced knowledge of quantitative and experimental methods, together with the ability to deliver teaching and assessment at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to publish high quality outputs in appropriate venues. The ability to work constructively and flexibly with colleagues is essential, as are good organisational and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

The Department of Language and Linguistic Science is looking to appoint a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) specialising in research on lifespan language development (first and second language acquisition, loss and/or attrition), to be situated within the department’s research group on psycholinguistic, theoretical and experimental approaches to language acquisition and attrition. High-level knowledge of advanced quantitative research methods are also expected.
Duties will include research, publication, convening and teaching modules at all levels of the BA, BSc, MA and MSc programmes of the Department, (co-)supervision of Masters and PhD students, and administrative roles as required within the Department. The successful candidate will be able to develop new modules and adapt existing ones in line with their research strengths. They will contribute to the development, teaching, and international marketing of the newly introduced MA Applied Linguistics. High-quality research and publications (appropriate to career stage) are also expected.
