OVERVIEW

The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) is one of the world’s leading performing arts academies, delivering a comprehensive range of performing arts training in Australia across dance, acting, music theatre, production and design and music.
WAAPA’s Dance program is seeking experienced, inspirational lecturers to join the team at a pivotal moment for WAAPA at Edith Cowan University, as we prepare to move into a brand-new world-class city campus in the Perth CBD in 2026. The dance facilities in the new City Campus include state of the art studios and a brand new purpose-built Dance Theatre venue.
Collaborative, creative and experienced dance artists are invited to apply for the role of Lecturer (Dance) to contribute to our existing specialist and highly dedicated team in dance.

Responsibilities:

WAAPA is looking to appoint a part time lecturer in dance with a specialisation in contemporary dance technique, improvisation and creative practice to work across both HE and VET courses. The ability to engage with dance through contextual theory, history and industry practice would also be beneficial.
WAAPA’s Dance program has a strong focus on technique, performance and creativity. Our graduates are employed in dance companies all over the world and many have careers as independent artists, dance teachers, rehearsal directors, movement directors, dance producers, and artistic directors. Others are contributing to dance research through traditional or practice-led research, examining the value of dance as part of arts-science, health and performance.
