Description:

We’re looking to recruit a Lecturer for our Future Transportation Subject Group as we seek to grow our automotive engineering provision.
You will have knowledge and expertise across the field of automotive engineering, developed and sustained through academic and/or industrial experience.
If you have expertise in the areas of hybrid/electric drive, vehicle electrical systems and electronics, vehicle control systems or thermodynamics and internal combustion engine technology, this would be particularly welcome.
You will have the ability to create and deliver engaging and transformative learning and teaching experiences, as well as staying up to date in your subject area through research, consultancy and knowledge exchange activities.
The Department of Engineering and Mathematics is home to over 100 academic staff, with students and their experience at the forefront of what we do. We place equal emphasis on teaching and research, be it subject or pedagogic research to transform lives.
The Department is arranged into a number of subject groups responsible for developing and delivering their relevant subject areas and courses. We benefit from strong industry partners and work with a number of leading organisations including JCB, Kimberly Clark, AMEY Rail and Network Rail to provide applied learning opportunities for our students and jobs for our graduates. Our graduates perform well in the labour market with 89% in work or further study and 72% in highly skilled employment.
We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.
As well as 35 days annual leave and the eight standard UK bank holidays, you also get up to six extra days each year for extended University closure around some UK public/holidays.
You will be contractually enrolled into the Teachers’ Pension Scheme (TPS) – one of the largest and most generous defined benefit pension schemes in the country. Read more about the TPS.
For this job, we particularly welcome applications from female applicants who are underrepresented in this area at Sheffield Hallam.
We welcome applications for job share and flexible working arrangements.
The University may be able to sponsor the employment of international applicants in this role; this will depend on a number of factors specific to the individual applicant.
