Description:

The Department of English seeks to appoint a Lecturer in English Language/Linguistics who will contribute extensively to the teaching of our existing undergraduate and postgraduate provision, and to the development of new modules and programmes. The successful candidate will be an academic with a developing national/ international research reputation who has demonstrated excellence in teaching and supervision via a range of methods (including online/ blended) and to undergraduate and postgraduate students from diverse backgrounds. They must demonstrate the potential for excellence in teaching the broad area of English Language/Linguistics, with a strong background in corpus linguistics and expertise in teaching and supervising mixed-method approaches applied to one or more of the following areas: digital discourse analysis, sociolinguistics, digital literacies, forensic linguistics. Applicants who can contribute to a diverse and inclusive programme are particularly encouraged.
Candidates should hold a PhD in English Language, Linguistics, or a related field. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute fully to the high-quality research profile of the Department, to the study of English/Linguistics nationally and internationally, and to the discipline’s wider relevance beyond the academy. Candidates should have a record of internationally-excellent research appropriate to their career stage, and a detailed plan for world-leading publications, impact and external research funding which will contribute to the Department¿s REF submission. They will have the ability to collaborate with external partners, and to work with one or more of our research centres and clusters (https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/english/research/clusters-centres/).
