About Us
The Department of European and International Studies is recruiting a permanent Lecturer in International Political Economy. The post is open in terms of theoretical and methodological approach within the field of International Political Economy, with research expertise on finance and/or trade. The post holder is expected to contribute to the delivery of the BAs in European Politics and European Studies and the MAs in International Political Economy and European Studies, and the BA in International Relations to which the department contributes. The post is holder is also expected to contribute to the development and delivery of the MA in Global Political Economy (Online) to be launched in 2024/25. The post holder will contribute to research-led teaching and supervision at UG, PGT and PGR levels, contribute to advancing the department’s research culture, and work well with others in the department and across the School and Faculty.

About the role
Contribute to the planning, organisation and delivery of innovative teaching activities within the department, particularly the BA European Politics, BA European Studies, MA International Political Economy, MA European Studies and MA Global Political Economy (Online), as well as the BA International Relations to which the department contributes.
Contribute fully to developing and enhancing the research profile of the Department, School and College.
Supervise and train postgraduate students to ensure their effective development.
Act as personal tutor to students.
Participate fully in assessment and examination process as appropriate using a variety of methods and techniques and provide effective, timely and appropriate feedback to students to support their leaning.
Participate in and develop internal and external networks.
Conduct individual or collaborative research projects.
Contribute to departmental, School, Faculty and University administrative duties.
This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About You
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
GRADE 7
Essential criteria
- PhD and first degree in a relevant subject (PhD submitted or completed by time of application)
- Specialism in International Political Economy, with a focus on finance and/or trade
- Good academic publications record
- University teaching experience
- Experience supervising student research at BA, MA and/or PhD levels
- Experience and/or interest in the development and delivery of online teaching programmes
Desirable criteria
- Administrative experience
