Description:
The School of Social Sciences and Humanities is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Policing who can contribute to the growth and development of our programmes.
The School of Social Sciences and Humanities is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Policing who can contribute to the growth and development of our programmes.
Policing is located in the Department of Social Science, which constitutes a rich and diverse range of academic disciplines, including popular degrees in Criminology and Criminal Justice and Fire and Rescue Services.
We are looking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic individual to contribute to the provision of high-quality teaching and research across policing. Although all suitably qualified candidates should apply, we welcome applications from individuals with recent policing and/or investigative experience within the UK, particularly criminal investigation and operational use of intelligence systems and models. Applicants should have the ability to make a contribution to the development of the Policing portfolio, which includes programmes under the Police Education Qualification Framework (PEQF).
We have recently completed a curriculum review and have further aligned our courses to meet our students’ needs. Students benefit from a range of practical experiences from educational visits to the ability to apply theory to practice in our crime scene investigation house and interview recording suite. Our programmes focus on applying theory to practice with a strong focus on employability.
You will have a good first degree or equivalent, a Masters’ degree (or equivalent relevant and recent policing and/or investigative experience within the UK) with experience of teaching in the HE sector or police training. You should be able to demonstrate a commitment to high quality teaching and research.
