Social and Community Work is a programme within the School of Social Sciences, Division of Humanities. The programme offers the BSW and the MSCW (applied), which are applied programmes leading to registration with the Social Workers Registration Board. The programme also offers an MSW as a post-professional qualification, as well as the more traditional MA and Phd. The Social and Community work programme currently has 8 full and part-time academic staff and 2 support staff, and 74 students across all its programmes.

KĀ PŪKEKA ME KĀ WHEAKO/YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful candidate must either be registered with the Social Workers Registration Board of New Zealand or be able to be registered. It is expected that you will have completed or be close to completing a PhD.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking to appoint a full-time Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Social and Community Work. In this role you will contribute to teaching and curriculum development at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the following key areas of the social work curriculum:

  • Community development
  • Organisational theory

In addition to these key domains, interests in the following areas would also be desirable:

  • Health and mental health
  • Disability
  • Supervision

You will carry out a programme of independent research related to social work and supervise postgraduate student research.
