Description:
The Sonography team at Edith Cowan University (ECU) is looking for a lecturer to join the team at our Joondalup campus in Perth. The Medical Sonography program at ECU commenced at our Joondalup campus in February 2024. This course is a 4-year offering accredited by Australian Sonographer Accreditation Registry (ASAR). The ECU Sonography team pride themselves on excellence in teaching and research, working closely with local, national, and international health care organisations to provide undergraduate and postgraduate education. With campuses in both Joondalup and Bunbury and a new City campus on the horizon, along with contemporary digital learning technologies, our team produce excellent clinicians and future health leaders through higher education.
As a lecturer, you will deliver contemporary high-quality teaching, develop innovative and evidence-informed content and be responsible for the coordination of units. Through your knowledge and expertise, you will teach within the undergraduate and/or postgraduate components of the Sonography programme with the opportunity for involvement in the development of continuing professional development short courses.
Graduates will have core knowledge and skills in applied anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology, application and operation of ultrasound imaging systems, ultrasound image recognition and comprehension, patient assessment, care and communication, critical thinking skills, ultrasound physics, occupational health and safety, infection control and quality assurance as well as professional reflective practice.
Responsibilities:
Undertake contemporary teaching practices in the sonography programs including theory and practical elements of the course.
Coordinate and develop strategically aligned curriculum that aligns with course and industry expectations and best evidence-informed practices.
Foster an inclusive learning environment with diverse students that encourages active student participation and critical thinking.
Provide mentorship and guidance to students by supporting their academic and professional development.
Stay current with advances in medical imaging and incorporate relevant updates into the curriculum.
Collaborate with colleagues and industry to enhance the overall quality of the sonography programs.
