Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

We anticipate a mix of full and part time positions to teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in management, human resources, or entrepreneurship determined by department needs and candidate expertise. Teaching needs may include one or more of the following courses:

  • Organizational Behavior (MHR 300)
  • Strategic Management (MHR 423, MHR 723)
  • Negotiation (MHR 628)
  • Consulting (MHR 412)
  • Entrepreneurship or Entrepreneurial Finance (MHR 422, MHR 434, MHR 722)

The lecturer is responsible for course work preparation in alignment with learning outcomes; original content creation; classroom instruction; holding office hours; and exam preparation, administration, and grading consistent with the policies of the Wisconsin School of Business (WSB). In some cases, the lecturer will be part of a team of lecturers teaching the same course. In this context, collaboration with colleagues and team participation is critical.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Minimum of one year experience designing courses and/or teaching either in higher education or in management development programs geared towards adult learners.

Preferred:

  • Substantial practical work experience in organizations - particularly in the context of leading and managing teams.

  • Demonstrated teaching excellence in a higher education institution.

  • Expertise in instructing a broad range of management courses.

Responsibilities:

Facilitates classroom, online, and/or laboratory instruction and assists with instructional development and design for a single course or series of courses within an academic discipline to support the delivery of quality instruction. Provides for-credit instruction in formats such as classroom, online and/or laboratory settings, including grading. Serves as an instructor of record.

  • 70% Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance
  • 15% Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction
  • 5% Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations
  • 10% Serves the university’s teaching mission through advising students outside the classroom, supporting student organizations, or participating in university administration and community outreach
