Description:

High Tide Inc., the fast paced, growing, and highly successful cannabis retail is seeking a Legal Assistant for our Calgary corporate office. This is a critical role in High Tide’s continued success and growth.
As a Legal Assistant, you will work closely within our Legal Department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background supporting law, great organizational skills, excellent attention to detail and a passion for the legal profession. The Legal Assistant maintains confidentiality and professionally interacts with management, internal and external stakeholders.
Specific Responsibilities:

The role is accountable for the following:

  • Being the support for the Legal and Compliance team
  • Establishing, implementing, and improving existing workflows and administrative procedures.
  • Supporting public company M&A transactions and financing transactions.
  • Participating in structuring and restructuring transactions, including organization of new corporations and partnerships, ownership changes and corporate group restructuring.
  • Collaborating with external law firms in all jurisdictions where the company operates.
  • Developing and maintaining processes and systems, including updates for new technology.
  • Innovative ideas to improve processes and policies.
  • Managing our insurance portfolio.
  • Develop relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Day to day administrative tasks such as organizing department records.
  • Assist with other duties as required.

Responsibilities:

YOU WILL BE A GREAT FIT FOR THIS ROLE IF YOU HAVE:

  • Minimum 5 years of corporate commercial law experience.
  • Post-secondary education with a legal assistant designation.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, interpersonal, and communication (oral and written) skills.
  • Collaborator/team player.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Able to prioritize work.
  • Exceptional proofreading skills.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Suite.
