Description:

Chartwell Law: is currently seeking a full time Legal Assistant/Paralegal for the General Liability team in our Chattanooga, TN office. The ideal candidate must have at least three years’ experience preparing discovery responses/pleadings and motions, legal assistant responsibilities, processing medical authorizations and dealing with providers. Knowledge of TN federal and state statutes, rules, and procedures is required with Alabama and Georgia experience a plus. Must have excellent organizational, communication, writing, and research skills. The ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment is also required.

Primary Job Duties

  • Preparing documents for pleadings, discovery, motions, letter correspondence, etc.
  • Organization of case files; gathering, organizing and analyzing data
  • Ideal candidate must be highly organized, detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Works closely with attorneys and in-office billing department including accounts receivable
  • Organize, chart and process incoming records and invoices
  • Follow up for outstanding records via telephone, e-mail and regular mail
  • Edit Motion and discovery documents
  • Organization of case files; gathering, organizing and analyzing data
  • Works closely with attorneys, adjusters and external medical providers
  • Prepare Affidavits of Service and facilitate outgoing documents to the Court and to adversaries
  • Retrieve documents from TN State E-filing and save to document management system
  • Prepare court filings; and e-filing

Requirements

  • Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years’ legal experience.
  • Candidates must have experience in preparing and serving documents, typing from dictation,
  • Candidates will be required to enter and bill their time
  • Must be able to handle both paralegal and legal secretary duties.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook as well as other Microsoft Office applications including Word, Adobe PDF creation and searches
  • Familiarity with and prior use of Aderant Total Office (ATO) (Client Profiles) is a plus
