Description:

Legal Assistants support lawyers directly, and may be required to supervise other legal staff such as legal secretaries or file clerks.The ideal Legal Assistant will have sound technical and computer knowledge as well as excellent analytical, communication and organizational skills.Some law firms prefer three to five years of legal experience in a law firm or other corporate legal department.

Responsibilities

  • Sift through and retrieve electronic documents from a variety of court and agency web sites
  • Review originals documents and checking if copies are true
  • Author communications and memorandum
  • Be responsible for word processing, filing and faxing
  • Assemble documents for photocopying/scanning
  • Regulate computer database input and retrieval
  • Control matter management and record keeping
  • Log documents and assemble data as directed by lawyers and paralegals
  • Organize e-documents and files
  • Initiate legal research and investigative tasks, including obtaining information or documents from outside parties, as directed
  • Investigating the factual evidence of a transaction or case and preparing exhibits, charts and diagrams to display information
  • Drafting legal court documents, such as pleadings, motions, affidavits and subpoenas; transactional documents, such as trusts, wills, contracts and real estate leases; and closing documents
  • Organizing and tracking files for important transactions or case documents, including pleadings and voluminous discovery documents; creating and maintaining a case-management database
  • Conducting routine discovery
  • 5+ years of previous legal work experience and a dedication to integrity
  • Scheduling management experience preferred
  • Earlier work involving Chromeriver
  • Experience with Client administration
  • Client administration experience
  • Solid understanding of scheduling
  • Background working with Process Documentation
  • Proficiency in Reserving Conference Rooms
  • Demonstrated knowledge of drafting
  • Practical knowledge of Imanage
  • Adeptness in Client communications
  • General familiarity with expense management
  • Book Travel Arrangements experience highly preferred
  • Experience assisting lawyers in preparing for transactional closings, depositions, hearings, trials and conferences; completing many administrative tasks, including, working on individual cases or transactions
