Geotab is seeking a Lawyer who will be a member of the in-house legal team managing litigation, complex legal agreements and negotiations with a variety of business partners. Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

As Legal Counsel, your role will encompass critical areas such as intellectual property, litigation, multi-faceted transactions, privacy, government contracting and technology licensing.
To be successful in this role you will be an enthusiastic and collaborative professional with strong litigation experience. In addition, the successful candidate will bring a genuine passion and familiarity with the software, programming, and related technology.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO THIS ROLE:

  • 5-8 years of experience with a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Litigation experience, including intellectual property litigation, general litigation, responding to subpoenas and document production requests, both local and international.
  • Knowledge of intellectual property laws and practice.
  • Experience negotiating and working with large, multi-national, regulated organizations and municipal, State and federal government entities.
  • Familiarity with AI, business intelligence and data analytics operations as well as privacy surrounding these activities.
  • Previous exposure to and affinity for software, programming, computing and related technology.
  • Thorough understanding of the telematics industry and applicable legislation and regulations.
  • Strong sense of ethics and the ability to handle sensitive or private information with tact and discretion.
  • Knowledge of data privacy laws.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including comfort with delivering presentations and public speaking.
  • Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma Specialization in Law with license to practice in Ontario.
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
