Description:

Job Title: In-house Legal Counsel.
Location: Blackburn
Contract Details: Permanent, Full Time (2-3 days in office per week)
Salary: £60,000 - £70,000 per year

Our client, a leading company in Engineering for Energy Transition, is seeking a passionate In-house Legal Counsel to join their UK Legal & Compliance Team. With a strong foothold in the UK and international markets, our client provides services in Nuclear & Energy, Transportation & Infrastructure, PMO, Defence, and Digital sectors. THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE ARE DESIRABLE BUT NOT ESSENTIAL:

  • Experience with export control regulations.
  • Familiarity with the engineering and energy industries.

Responsibilities:

AS AN IN-HOUSE LEGAL COUNSEL, YOUR ROLE WILL INVOLVE:

  • Collaborating with operational and bid teams to assess contractual risks and provide informed decisions on opportunities.
  • Drafting, negotiating, and finalising contracts with customers, partners, and suppliers.
  • Supporting operational teams in contract execution and delivery, addressing legal matters that arise.
  • Providing legal advice and guidance to various departments within the organisation, including HR, ICT, Security, Property, and HSEQ.
  • Conducting compliance and legal education sessions for the wider team.
  • Assisting with M&A activities as required.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED:

  • UK qualification as a Solicitor with 3-5 years of post-qualification experience as an in-house lawyer.
  • Experience in advising and drafting contracts within the consulting, engineering, or related sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC contracts, Public Procurement Regulations, and other relevant contract types.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative and innovative environment.
