Description:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Current practicing certificate.
- Minimum six years of experience practicing law, with a focus on litigation and dispute resolution in the infrastructure sector.
- Strong knowledge of contract law, construction law, and regulatory frameworks governing major infrastructure projects.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and negotiation skills, with the ability to assess legal risks and develop effective strategies.
- Experience managing complex litigation matters from inception to resolution, including trial experience preferred.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality legal services.
Responsibilities:
- Represent our client in litigation matters related to major infrastructure projects in road, rail, and ports, including disputes with contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
- Manage all aspects of the litigation process, including case strategy, pleadings, discovery, motions, hearings, trials, and appeals.
- Conduct legal research and analysis to evaluate the merits of claims and develop effective defence strategies.
- Collaborate with external counsel and experts to provide legal advice and representation in complex litigation matters.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, including project managers, engineers, and executives, to gather relevant information and evidence for litigation proceedings.
- Prepare and review legal documents, including contracts, agreements, briefs, pleadings, and settlement proposals.
- Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to major infrastructure projects and provide guidance on compliance and risk management issues.
- Assist in the negotiation and settlement of disputes to achieve favourable outcomes for our client while minimising legal and financial risks.
- Provide legal training and guidance to internal teams on litigation-related matters, including risk mitigation strategies and dispute resolution techniques.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to litigation matters, including case files, correspondence, and legal opinions.
- Collaborate with other members of the legal department on various legal projects and initiatives as required.
