ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for a commercial lawyer with 5 to 7 years’ post qualification experience (PQE) and proven exposure to a broad spectrum of commercial legal work, including privacy compliance, IT contracting and regulation.
This role would suit a candidate with an interest in innovation, inherent curiosity and a problem-solving mindset.
To be successful in this role, you will have an eye for detail, be proactive, collaborative and resilient, and have excellent stakeholder management skills.

We have an exciting new opportunity available for a Legal Counsel to join our high performing Ventures team. Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel, you’ll provide strategic, high quality, timely, cost effective and independent legal services as business partner to the Ventures function of Medibank Private Limited.
Medibank Ventures is an incubation hub which identifies, tests, develops and commercialises new ideas and innovative initiatives across the Medibank enterprise.

This role is primarily responsible for the following:

• In an embedded business partner capacity, supporting the design and implementation of Ventures initiatives on behalf of various Medibank Group entities
• Drafting, reviewing and advising upon commercial agreements, legal instruments, collateral and communications required for the establishment of Ventures initiatives – including vendor, customer, consumer, provider and intragroup arrangements
• Providing or supporting regulatory advice relevant to the structuring and establishment of Ventures initiatives, including in respect of health services regulation, privacy compliance and intellectual property protection
• Liaising with subject matter experts within Medibank’s Trust, Legal and Compliance (TLC) Group and external lawyers as required in connection with Ventures initiatives
• Assisting Medibank to operate in accordance with legislative requirements, regulations and internal policies and procedures, and to understand legal risks.
