Description:

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Sony Europe Legal & Compliance team supporting our Sony Entertainment Technology & Services and Imaging Sensing & Solutions businesses. This is a fast-paced commercial environment with global reach which gives rise to a variety of interesting and challenging legal issues.
We’re seeking a junior to mid-level corporate/commercial lawyer to join our Legal team to support several of the Senior Counsels advising the Sony Electronics business in its European operations across a broad range of legal issues, corporate transactions and contract negotiations. Working in a small but close-knit team, you will cover a wider range of tasks and have the opportunity to collaborate with the wider Legal & Compliance team, utilising your flexibility and ability to tackle new areas of responsibility and specialism as and when required.
Your skills should include interpersonal, analytical, organisation, influencing, good judgement, accountability, effective conflict resolution, and sensitivity to people issues. You will need flexibility and focus in meeting the changing needs of fast paced business, client focus, honesty, and integrity.

You will:

  • Work on a range of corporate transactions which may include mergers & acquisitions, strategic alliances, venture capital investments and corporate restructurings.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial contracts including product supply agreements, services agreements (with a focus on technology and software solutions), and advising on technology legislation, artificial intelligence and open source software/open data.
  • Provide commercially focused legal advice and recommendations to the business in different jurisdictions, ensuring that advice is conveyed clearly, understandable, and relevant to the business requirement.
  • Advise on commercial disputes, litigation and regulatory enquiries, working with external counsel where required.
  • Prepare and provide training on key legal topics impacting the business.

You will bring:

  • Qualification to practice law in England and Wales (consideration will be given to candidates with suitable experience who are qualified to practice in other European jurisdictions).
  • Proven post-qualification experience acquired in private practice (preferably) and/or in-house.
  • Experience working on corporate transactions, contract drafting, negotiating, and presentation skills.
  • Commercial approach to legal issues.
  • Proficient in English. Other language skills or experience of other legal jurisdictions would be useful.
