JOB DESCRIPTION
Join Gunderson Dettmer, the preeminent international law firm with an exclusive focus on the innovation economy, as a full time Legal Engineer to work at the intersection of technology, law, data and innovation. We’re at the forefront of legal innovation and are actively developing and refining the law firm tech stack of the future. This unique position offers the opportunity to help architect the modern law firm’s data infrastructure, design key applications to solve problems for legal practitioners, and craft the integration layer between these bespoke tools and our data warehouse. We seek a talented individual who thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment and embodies a commitment to precision, repeatability, and quality.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of relevant software development experience, preferably in a cloud-native environment.
- Experience in cloud deployments, full-stack development, and containerized application architectures.
- Proficiency working with API technologies such as REST and GraphQL, along with authentication flows such as OAuth2.
- Exceptional problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and a collaborative spirit.
- Excellent communication skills, underpinning effective collaboration with various teams and subject matter experts
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with legal Subject-Matter Experts to identify where software tools can automate and enrich practitioners’ workflows, and translate the resulting legal and business requirements into engineering specs.
- Create Integrations between various tools and platforms using iPaaS tools like AirFlow. Proactively identify opportunities to improve data, data tooling, and data version controls.
- Design and Implement Cloud Deployments and Full-Stack Applications, using technologies such as Tilt, Terraform, TypeScript, NodeJS, Python, FastAPI, and Django.
- Manage and Optimize cloud infrastructure to ensure scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness, reflecting our commitment to excellence in service delivery.
- Maintain Quality Control, implementing best practices to ensure applications meet our standards of reliability, usability, and performance.
- Work with Cross-Functional Teams, including legal engineers and other technical roles, to ensure efficient and coherent development processes.
- Stay Informed about industry trends related to legal technology and cloud-native technologies, ensuring our firm remains cutting-edge.
