Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking an experienced Legal Secretary to join our successful Sydney Public Law team in a full time capacity. Working alongside our current high performing secretarial team you will provide secretarial and administrative support to a number of junior and senior lawyers.

The role offers plenty of variety including:

  • Creating, drafting, editing and formatting a range of legal correspondence and documents including tender bundles and briefs to counsel
  • Assisting with project managing files including drafting cost agreements, monitoring fee estimates and client reporting
  • End to end monthly billing including timesheets, amending bill narratives and finalising and despatching bills
  • Management of court and fee earner calendars
  • Coordination of meetings and internal/external functions
  • Opening and closing of matters including e-filing and physical archiving via Aderant Expert (billing) and iManage (document management) systems
  • Arranging travel
  • Reconciling expenses for authors on a monthly basis and
  • General ad hoc administrative duties.

  • An understanding of litigious procedures and legal terminology
  • Competent technical ability using Microsoft Office suite
  • Knowledge of Aderant Exert for billing is advantageous
  • The ability to produce accurate, high quality work within set timeframes
  • A strong attention to detail
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A high level of professionalism, a can-do approach and initiativ
