KCB is seeking our first in-house Legal Counsel, based in our Vancouver Corporate office. This position is part of our Corporate Group, reporting to the VP Technical (responsible for risk mitigation). Applying diversity, equity and inclusion best practices, the role of Legal Counsel comes with the flexibility to work a part time schedule (a minimum of 24 hours per week) and will provide you with the opportunity to:
- Draft, review, interpret, and negotiate a wide range of global external contracts, including client agreements, vendor contracts, and subcontractor agreements, ensuring consistency across our global operations
- Draft, review and maintain KCB generated client and subcontractor agreements, ensuring best practices are applied
- Provide legal guidance and support in the resolution of insurance claims and disputes, ensuring compliance with the laws and regulations in the local region
- Conduct research and analysis to stay abreast of changes and best practices in relevant laws and regulations within the countries we operate, focusing on the engineering consulting industry
- Collaborate with internal teams, including project managers and senior leadership, to assess legal risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Provide timely legal advice to project teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Review RFPs and assist in developing project risk profiles, supporting go-no-go evaluations
- Liaise with our external lawyer, in each of our regions, as a key contact
- Provide training and guidance to internal stakeholders on legal issues, risk management, contract negotiation strategies, and best practices
- Support our internal risk assessment committee on evaluating legal issues and risks
- Support applicable portfolios within our Integrated Management System (IMS)
- Perform other tasks deemed necessary to support the legal affairs and risk mitigation for KCB
