Responsibilities:

The Payroll kapa (team) is a fundamental part of the HR Shared Services (HRSS) whānau (family). They tautoko (support) the largest workforce in the South Island ensuring we pay our kaimahi (staff) accurately, on time, every time. They - re hard-working and dedicated delivering their mahi (work) to high standards putting the kaimahi (staff) at the centre of what they do.
We are seeking a motivated Legislation and Compliance Overpayment Officer to join our Payroll kapa (team). This is a busy role where you will be responsible for development and delivery of excellent customer service experience, make timely and accurate payments to kaimahi (staff) of the Canterbury Waitaha, maintain employee records and work closely with the HRSS kapa (team).

You will be responsible for:

  • Calculating overpayments in line with our policy, MECA rules, and employment legislation.
  • Providing accurate and prompt information to Managers, HR Advisors and HR Business Partners.
  • Contacting Managers regarding sensitive overpayment situations and for recovery of funds.
  • Collaborating with members of the wider People & Communications team.
  • Answering employee related queries with a confidential and empathetic approach
  • Investigation and resolution of payments.
