Description:
REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE
- Min 2 years experience in game design in general.
- Proficient with Photoshop and any map editor tool.
- Knowledge in puzzle games is a huge plus.
- Proficiency in the Unity engine is a huge bonus.
- Experience in modding games is a plus.
- Fluent in English (Spoken and Written)
Responsibilities:
As a level designer, you will oversee the entire production process, and collaborate with various teams to gather requirements and brainstorm ideas. You will capture and measure all the necessary elements, outline gameplay experiences, and balance artistic vision with technical constraints. You will work to create engaging player experiences while adhering to timelines and budgets to optimise the overall level design.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the design of your levels through the full cycle of production from conception to finalization.
- Collaborate with product managers, data analysts and game designers to define the requirements of a level.
- Refine and improve your designs by using data analysis to understand their performance.
- Discuss and share ideas with other level designers to aid each other’s designs.
- Brainstorm and research to plan the levels guidelines.
- Experiment with level designs and explore opportunities.
- Outline the gameplay experience (layouts, mechanics, length, difficulty etc.) in level documentation that will serve as a reference and source of inspiration throughout development.
- Make decisions to balance artistic aspects with technical constraints to align all technical, design, graphic, accessibility, timeline, cost, and effort.
- Find solutions to issues uncovered by playtesters and cross-functional teams related to the level (get to the root of problems to solve them).
