Description:

DO YOU LOVE PEOPLE, BOOKS AND TECHNOLOGY? HOW ABOUT JOINING OUR AWESOME LIBRARY TEAM AT MATAMATA-PIAKO DISTRICT LIBRARIES.

We believe the way we do things really does make a difference in the lives of those who live in our district. We strive to provide an innovative, adaptable and integrated library service and our people are key in achieving this. We have a dynamic work environment with plenty of laughter and a friendly, welcoming and positive culture.
We are looking for somebody who will play an integral part of our team by filling a parental leave vacancy for one year. This role involves providing lending services to customers (e.g. issues, returns, shelving), as well as helping customers find their next great read, assisting with information and literacy services and with delivering a range of programmes, such as “Toddler time”, “Bricks for Kids”, our popular school holiday activities, as well programmes for adults, such as computer skills training and book chat groups.
The successful applicant will have exceptional customer service skills and a joy of reading. They will also be tech-savvy and able to relate their knowledge to customers with a wide range of technical skills. Prior library experience is an advantage. The ability to adapt, and collaborate across the library teams and with other council teams is essential.
The hours of work are an average of 14.75 hours per week, including alternate Saturdays. Some evening and weekend work may also be required to cover programmes and events. This position is predominantly based in Te Aroha and works across all three libraries.
