Description:
JOB BRIEF
The Licensing Enforcement Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance of all lottery and gaming and municipal business licensing in accordance with Federal, Provincial and Municipal legislation.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections and confirm compliance of municipal licensing by-laws in response to complaints, proactive enforcement protocols and applications for licenses and permits
- Investigate infractions and take legal action where appropriate, liaising with the appropriate enforcement agencies
- Enforce all functions related to the issuance of lottery licenses including determining eligibility and review and monitoring all licenses, charities financial and administrative reports to ensure compliance with the policies and procedures of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario
- Compile information related to licensing functions, including preparation of statistics reports, research background material on special projects, and compose related correspondence and reports to other levels of government
- Coordinate corporate and provincial records associated with business and lottery licensing
- Resolve customer service inquiries from external customers including business operators, charities, regulatory agencies and the general public
- Collaborate with Municipal Law Enforcement colleagues and management regarding issues such as collecting information, undertaking research and analysis, problem solving and formulating practical solutions and strategies
- Review and recommend draft amendments to Licensing By-Laws, policies and procedures; write reports for Council, compiling new by-laws as applicable
- Represents the City at various meetings, taskforces, hearings, court appearances regarding business licensing processes
- Calibrate appropriate settings for taxi meters and calculate permit and license fees
- Perform other related duties as assigned
