JOB SUMMARY
A Licensing Engineer is needed to support the North Anna Licensing department. The incumbent in this position must be able to work independently on complex inter-departmental licensing issues. The individual must possess solid communication skills (both written and oral) as the position coordinates NRC communication, correspondence and Technical Specification reviews. The position is the primary interface with the NRC and coordinates development and communication of licensing priorities with the NRC. There is one position that will be filled at the level commensurate with the successful candidate’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Job responsibilities include:
- Provide interface with NRC through resident inspectors, including primary point of contact and lead communication interface for information requests by the NRC.
- Develop and communicate licensing priorities.
- Keep management apprised of development of emerging issues and progress on priority issues.
- Coordinate and manage telephone conference calls between the NRC and other departments.
- Provide day-to-day licensing support to station and other departments as applicable.
- Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & EXPERIENCE
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
ENGINEERING TECHNICAL SPECIALIST II (3+ YEARS OF RELEVANT ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE) ENGINEERING TECHNICAL SPECIALIST III: 5+ YEARS OF RELEVANT ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE PLUS A BS DEGREE IN A TECHNICAL FIELD OR RELATED ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE.
- Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles
- Experience in Nuclear Operations desired
- Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead
- Strong oral and written communication skills (includes technical writing)
- Strong personal computer skills
- Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
- Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices.
- In depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to manipulate personal computer applications and perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs (e.g. Micros0ft, Excel, etc.)
- Equally effective working independently or in team environment.
- Proven decision making skills.
- Ability to process information quickly and effectively manage multiple tasks;
- Strong planning, organizational and project management skills.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
Required degree (equivalency not accepted in lieu of required degree):
Bachelor

Required discipline(s): Engineering (for Engineer) or related technical field for Enginering Technical specialist
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR QUALS DESCRIPTION
ANSI/ANS-3.1-2014, Section 4.6.1
Education requirements: Baccalaureate or associate degree in engineering or related science.
Minimum experience for the position:
Related experience which shall include 2 yrs;
Nuclear power plant experience to include 1 year
Licensed Reactor Operator, Senior Reactor Operator, or STA Certification is desired.
