REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Experience: Equivalent to one year of paid or regularly assigned driving experience in a job involving operating a delivery vehicle, truck, tractor, bus, or automotive maintenance equipment. Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of general equipment operation of Tymco 435 street sweeper, Case Skid Steer, John Deere 310 backhoe, John Deere 4066r skip loader, John Deere 5065E tractor and all attachments. General knowledge of proper equipment safe operation and maintenance. Abilities: Ability to operate assigned equipment safely; recognize safety hazards and follow practices and laws to ensure safety. Ability to follow manuals and guidelines pertaining to operation of State vehicles and load and unload vehicles correctly and safely. Ability to follow oral and written instructions in English; read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with other people. Ability to service and make routine repairs of equipment operated and perform manual labor as required by the duties of the position. Ability to analyze and respond appropriately to emergencies. Must possess interpersonal skills in order to interact and communicate effectively with all management, staff, and co-workers. Must interpret a wide variety of written rules and regulations. Ability to successfully complete the Defensive Driver Training Program; must have the ability to provide proof of eligibility to lawfully operate a motor vehicle in the state of California. Must be able to accommodate a work schedule that varies according to operational needs, which may include evening and weekend hours. Physical Demands: This position requires full range of motion and a variety of movements necessary to perform strenuous manual labor, including but not limited to lifting and moving moderate sized equipment up to 50 lbs. bending, climbing, reaching, and applying force; work may involve exposure to hazardous materials.

Hiring Salary: $3,505 - $3,923 per month

Responsible for landscape maintenance of CSUCI East Campus including Malibu Hall, Broome Library, Sage Hall, and Rock Park. This includes but not limited to, mowing lawns, edging, weed whacking, blowing off walkways and concrete plaza, and trimming trees and bushes. Operates grounds equipment such as Tymco 435 street sweeper, Case Skid Steer, John Deere 310 backhoe, John Deere 4066R skip loader, John Deere 5065E Tractor, Ford 1Ton Dump truck, Toro soil spreader, John Deere Debris blower, Gearmore Flail mower, Betsco Boom Flail mower, Harper Turf Vacuum, Verticutter, Core Aerator, X7 John Deere Rotary cutter, Field disc attachments. Sweeps campus streets and parking lots 1 to 2 times per workweek as needed. Compacts campus waste in rubbish disposal bins and maintain weekly cleanup green waste area with backhoe. Performs bi-weekly or as needed maintenance with tractor box scraper attachment all campus and CI park base roadways and overflow parking lots. Clears fire vegetation across all campus open space field areas, levees, and CI park airfield with tractor Flail mower and Rotary cutter attachment. Renovates campus lawn areas and recreation field with verticutter and turf Vacuum tractor attachments. Participates in all landscaping backhoe excavation projects. Performs weekly maintenance service checks on all grounds services tractor, sweeper, and tractor attachments. Submits daily labor cards. Assists with setup and break down during Cal Fire open space clearance operations. May drive pick-ups and other automotive equipment in performance of assigned duties.
