Description:

CAN YOU ENGINEER A BRIGHTER TOMORROW?

It’s crystal clear: the actions we take in the next few years will significantly impact our future. At Volvo Cars, we embrace change. We’re committed to transforming the automotive industry and leading in electrification. For this, we’re seeking out more creative minds to shape that future. Don’t miss this opportunity to create your tomorrow.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO

As our new Light Simulation Engineer, you will be part of a team that develops exterior rear lights—mechatronic parts that significantly express the design language of Volvo Cars. You will primarily work in the early phases when lighting concepts are set and require reliable and understandable light simulations to guide the work towards further fine-tuning performance, then continue to prototype parts and validation.
You will gain a wide network across different product development departments in Engineering and Design and work closely with our concept design team of skilled designers and optical experts.

You will also:

  • Perform and communicate optical simulations and analysis reports using ANSYS Speos.
  • Cooperate closely with the concept team, suppliers, and designers to reach optimal legal solutions.
  • Ensure the final product by correlating simulation results with measured physical parts.
  • Support projects with optical concept development and ensure high-quality products for our customers.
  • Measure physical lamps and perform benchmark activities.
  • Collaborate closely with Optical Engineers, Project Leads, Design Leads, Product Designers, and Perceived Quality teams.
  • Continuously develop and automate workflow.

To thrive in this role, we believe you:

  • Hold a degree in engineering, with an interest in the field of optics.
  • Have experience in optical simulation.
  • Have knowledge in exterior lighting.
  • Have experience in programming/scripting (e.g., Python, C)
