Description:
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Support the development and implementation of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for an ISO17025 accredited laboratory, and act as a subject matter expert and deputy administrator for the system.
- Gain a deep understanding our laboratory’s operations, workflows, and specific requirements.
- Configure LIMS system settings, modules, and features to optimise processes.
- Develop crystal reports and visual workflows/dashboards to enhance laboratory operations.
- Facilitate effective communication between external consultants and our internal technical team, including the agency’s LIMS administrator.
- Bridge any gaps between end users and IT professionals, ensuring smooth collaboration.
- Address concerns, resolve issues, and maintain transparency throughout the implementation process.
- Maintain a LIMS issues register and comprehensive documentation for troubleshooting procedures and user guides.

To be considered for this position, you should meet the following criteria:
- Hold a tertiary qualification in science, computer science, information management systems, IT or a related field from an Australian institution or an equivalent qualification.
- Demonstrate high-level scientific and technical expertise. Proven experience in configuring, implementing, and troubleshooting LIMS within a complex laboratory environment is essential. Familiarity with Labware is advantageous.
- Possess a strong understanding of database management, SQL, and data integration. Additionally crystal report writing would be advantageous.
- Exhibit well-developed interpersonal skills, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to contribute effectively within a team. You should also be adept at liaising with staff at all levels and external stakeholders.
- Consistently perform at a high level and demonstrate the ability to make well-informed decisions.
You must hold Australian citizenship or possess permanent residency status leading to citizenship and be prepared to travel interstate from time to time as required. ARPANSA requires all new employees to obtain and maintain a Baseline security clearance as a condition of engagement.

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
As a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) Implementation Consultant, you will be responsible for ensuring the seamless implementation of LIMS. You will oversee the configuration and deployment of our LIMS, playing a critical role that combines technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of laboratory workflows.
Working in a small team of multi-skilled specialists, with professional guidance provided on complex matters, you will collaborate closely with business stakeholders and technologists to understand laboratory requirements and deliver a successful system solution aligned with agency objectives. Building and maintaining relationships with both internal and external stakeholders will be a key focus.
